Celebrating Gerd Kühr

On Friday 7 October 2022 at 10:00 pm, Ensemble Zeitfluss will celebrate Gerd Kühr’s 70th birthday at the Helmut List Halle Graz as part of Musikprotokoll 2022.

“For me, composing is less about inventing and more about finding. Discovering the existing, the pre-written, the pre-authored. The autonomy of composing seems to me to be broken by the fabric of history(ies), people and the world that lies outside of music. I seek precision, approximation in/to emotion, the emotion in precision.” (Gerd Kühr) With his calm and considered manner, Gerd Kühr is also one of Austria’s most interesting and consistent artistic voices. As a professor of composition in Graz, he has also influenced and encouraged generations of composers. This year the composer celebrates his 70th birthday. To mark the occasion, Ensemble Zeitfluss will perform works from several creative periods and two short world premieres. Edo Micic will be conducting.
